I’m beginning my first blog post by sharing about my family. Not my immediate family but my family of origin. I just returned from being with my Father, Step-Mom, Sister (and her immediate family) and Brother while my Father was receiving treatment for gastric cancer at the Mayo Clinic. Although we didn’t get wonderful news post surgery about my Father… many miraculous things occured during my time with my family.
First, I realized what a blessing it is to live a life fully. To see my Father, at 81 years have very few regrets and to have such in incredible attitude about his life as well as a palatable calmness in facing the news of a certain finite time to remain here on the planet.
Second, to be present to the struggles and triumphs of my niece who has spent exactly one year sober. She is stepping into her young life with new confidence and letting go of the trepidations of the past.
What an incredible contrast – the energy of completion & the energy of coming into being – the true dance of the universe! I never saw it so clearly before as I did in my very own family.
